Social audit rules: Open Graph and share previews
Audit rules for share previews: og:image size, og:url against the canonical, social profile links, share buttons and favicons that differ across pages.
Social Media rules read the tags that decide what a shared link looks like: the Open Graph image and its declared size, the canonical identity in og:url, and the profile links that say which accounts are yours. One of them works across the corpus instead, finding pages whose favicon, theme-color or fallback share image says they are running an older template.

These carry the highest severity and weight in the category.
- og:image size: the 1200 by 630 recommendation: A share image below the recommended size is cropped or upscaled in the preview card. squirrel reads og:image and its declared dimensions.
- Favicon and theme-color that differ across the site: Site chrome comes from one layout, so a page carrying a different favicon is running a different template. squirrel finds the minority.
- og:url versus canonical: why they should be the same URL: When og:url and the canonical disagree, share counts split across two addresses. squirrel normalises both and compares them.
- Social profile links: which platforms a page links to: Linking your official accounts confirms which ones are yours. squirrel detects profile links and cross-checks the accounts the audit knows about.
- Social share buttons: detecting them on content pages: Share buttons make it one click instead of three to pass a page on. squirrel looks for share markup, share libraries and platform share URLs.
